Standards & Methodology

Methodology transparency built for verifier scrutiny.

Every calculation is version-stamped, every input is traceable, every background dataset is explicitly referenced. Designed from the ground up to support pre-verified tool status with program operators.

Standards supported

ISO 14025:2006
Type III Environmental Declarations
Framework standard governing EPD structure, third-party verification, and program operator requirements.
ISO 14040:2006 / 14044:2006
LCA Principles & Requirements
Life cycle assessment methodology foundation. Terrave's calculation engine implements ISO 14044 data quality requirements.
ISO 14067:2018
Carbon Footprint of Products
Single-indicator PCF calculation. Reported as GWP-total (fossil + biogenic + luluc), never netted.
ISO 21930:2017
Construction Product EPDs
North American primary standard for construction product EPDs. Governs declared modules, system boundary, and indicator set.
ISO 22057:2022
EPD Data for BIM
Structured property format for embedding verified EPD data in BIM models. Terrave generates compliant bundles from every canonical record.
EN 15804:2012+A2:2019
European Construction Product PCR
European standard with 13 mandatory impact indicators. All Terrave EPDs report the full EN 15804+A2 indicator set.
EN 15978:2011
Whole-Building LCA
Building-level assessment standard. Terrave Assess module implements EN 15978 for whole-building projects.
LEED v5 BD+C
USGBC Materials Credits
MR Credit 2.1 (EPD sourcing) and 2.2 (GWP optimization) documentation auto-generated from verified records.
BREEAM Mat 01
Material Environmental Impacts
Green Guide equivalent scores and responsible sourcing documentation supported.
EU CPR Reg. 2024/3110
Declaration of Performance & Conformity
EU Digital Product Passport preparation. Terrave generates DPP-ready environmental section payloads.

Background data and provenance

Background database

ecoinvent v3.10 (attributional, cut-off system model) as primary LCI database. Version explicitly stamped on every canonical record. Methodology documentation logs all database versions used in each calculation.

Characterization factors

EN 15804+A2 mandatory indicators use EF 3.1 characterization factors. GWP uses IPCC AR6 100-year GWP factors. ISO 21930 indicator set uses TRACI 2.2 for North American deployments.

Calculation engine version

Every canonical record records the engine version used for its calculation. Results are fully reproducible from any historical engine version. Version history maintained with semantic versioning.

Audit trail

Every data input, mapping decision, and calculation step is logged with timestamp, actor, and evidence file reference. Full provenance chain available to verifiers.
