ESPR 2024/1781EUThe EU regulation establishing the DPP framework. Articles 9–13 define DPP requirements: the data that must be included, access rights (manufacturers, importers, distributors, public, authorities), lifetime persistence (Article 10: product lifetime + 10 years), and the delegated act mechanism through which product-specific obligations are activated. Replaces the Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC.
CPR 2024/3110EUThe recast CPR aligns CE marking obligations for construction products with the ESPR DPP framework. Construction products covered by a harmonised standard (hEN) must carry CE marking; once a DPP delegated act is in force for that hEN, CE marking requires a valid DPP. CPR 2024/3110 replaces CPR 305/2011.
EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021EU + internationalThe mandatory EPD methodology standard for construction products in Europe. Defines the 13 environmental indicators, module structure (A1–C4 + D), functional unit, and system boundary rules. A2 amendment introduced biogenic carbon reporting and stricter comparability requirements. Terrave DPPs reference EN 15804+A2 for all environmental indicator data.
ISO 21930:2017International (North America primary)The ISO-level EPD methodology standard used as the basis for North American EPD programmes (NSF, ASTM, UL). Functionally similar to EN 15804 but with some differences in module definitions and indicator scope. EPDs under ISO 21930 are used for US and Canadian green building certifications (LEED, LEED Canada) and Buy Clean California compliance.
prEN 18246EU (draft)The draft European standard defining the data schema, serialisation format (JSON-LD), and signing mechanism for DPPs. Mandates ECDSA P-256 (ES256) as the signing algorithm, defines the canonical JSON-LD serialisation for signature generation, and specifies the IPFS CID archival requirement. Terrave's DPP format is prEN 18246 conformant. Expected to be finalised as EN 18246.
ISO/IEC 18975:2022InternationalDefines the URI syntax for GS1 Digital Links, which encode GTINs and other GS1 keys in a resolvable URL. The structure terrave.ai/01/{gtin} conforms to this standard. Scannable QR codes on physical products encode the GS1 Digital Link URL; scanning resolves to the DPP. Replaces GS1 Digital Link v1.1 which was published as a GS1 standard before ISO adoption.
GS1 Digital Link v1.1.1InternationalThe GS1 application-level specification (preceding ISO/IEC 18975 adoption) for Digital Link URLs, resolver behaviour, link type registry, and QR code encoding. Version 1.1.1 is the current stable release. Defines the link types relevant to DPPs: gs1:epd, gs1:digitalPassport, gs1:certificationInfo. Terrave implements the gs1:digitalPassport link type.
EN 16908:2017EUThe Product Category Rules (PCR) for cement and building lime EPDs. Defines the system boundary, functional unit (1 tonne of cement at factory gate), the treatment of co-products (GGBFS, fly ash), and reporting requirements specific to the cement industry. All cement EPDs produced to EN 16908 are directly comparable.
ISO 14067:2018InternationalDefines the methodology for calculating and reporting the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). Closely related to EN 15804+A2 but applicable globally and not restricted to construction products. Some North American and Asian EPD programmes reference ISO 14067 instead of EN 15804. DPP data may carry both EN 15804 GWP indicators and an ISO 14067 PCF declaration.
GHG Protocol Product StandardInternationalThe World Resources Institute / WBCSD standard for accounting and reporting greenhouse gas emissions across the product life cycle. Defines Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions categories. Referenced by corporate supply chain disclosure frameworks and increasingly cited alongside EPD data in DPP records for transparency on embodied carbon sourcing.
EN 15978:2011EUThe whole-building LCA standard that uses EN 15804 product EPD data as its primary input. Defines the aggregation methodology for summing product-level impacts into building-level assessments. Relevant to DPP data consumers (architects, structural engineers, sustainability consultants) who aggregate product DPP data at project level.
